Understanding rental law shouldn't cost €500 and take two weeks
In 2024, 18,500 people went to the Rent Commission, often due to unconscious errors in opaque rental contracts. We are building AI that checks your contract in 2 minutes - so you can rent or let with confidence.
Legal certainty should be accessible to everyone.
Our journey
Rental conflicts on the rise
Between 2022 and 2024, the number of cases at the Rent Commission rose from over 12,000 to more than 18,500 procedures – an explosive growth in conflicts regarding rent, defects, and service costs. In a large portion of these cases, the tenant was (partially) right, often due to unconscious errors by landlords in an unnecessarily complex rental law system.

The rise of AI
AI begins to play a significant role. We see the potential to make complex legislation accessible to everyone.
Affordable Rent Act
A turning point in the Dutch housing market. The regulation of mid-segment rents makes the system fairer, but also five times as complex. The need for an independent and objective starting point becomes greater than ever.
We build the solution
Starting in November, we begin beta testing. AI trained on legislation makes contract analysis accessible.
Public launch
HuurCheckie becomes available to everyone. Direct legal insights within 2 minutes.
The old way vs. the HuurCheckie way
Why we are fundamentally changing how legal support works.
THE OLD WAY
THE HUURCHECKIE WAY
Our vision: The standard for fair renting
Legal knowledge is currently a privilege. We are making it a public good. No more ambiguity in a tangle of complex rules, but equal information for both tenant and landlord.
"Our goal: protecting tenants and helping landlords create fair, sustainable agreements. Not by choosing one side, but by bringing transparency to both sides."
Exploring international expansion
Research into Belgian and German rental laws started. First step towards pan-European coverage.
️ Legislative impact
Contributing to transparency by sharing data insights with policymakers and advocacy groups.
Partnerships & integration
Collaboration with housing platforms and legal service providers to standardize contract checks.
THE IMPACT WE STRIVE FOR
By lowering the threshold for legal checks, we ensure a fairer housing market. Fewer unnecessary procedures at the Rent Commission. More trust between tenant and landlord. Clarity upfront instead of conflict afterwards.
Why neutrality?
"You might ask: why not just choose tenants? Or landlords?"
Bad contracts harm everyone:
- Tenants pay too much or lose rights
- Landlords face legal procedures
- The Rent Commission is overloaded (18,500 cases in 2024)
- Trust between parties disappears
Good contracts are win-win:
- Tenants know what to expect
- Landlords have certainty about compliance
- Fewer conflicts, more trust
- A more efficient, fairer market
